What does backup mean and why is it necessary to make a periodic one?
We offer you some explanations and reasons why you need it, namely:

What does backup mean?
How do we backup the website?
How do we backup important data from the computer / laptop?

In order to avoid any unpleasant situation by losing important data of you, your employees or even your company, it is necessary to make regular backups.

What is backup?
We will explain what backup means, you will learn some useful information.

Data backup represents the process of archiving, copying and storing data. But what is backup, more precisely and what does it entail?

Backing up means making a backup copy of documents and files in order to have a copy in the event of an unexpected HDD failure, you can lose data simply because the hard disk has failed.

It should be noted that the backup represents the copying of data, and NOT moving them from the computer to an external hard drive or moving data from one partition to another, within the same HDD.

How do we backup the website?
The easy way to make a website backup is through the control panel provided by the hosting company.

In the first phase, you must make sure that the hosting company offers the possibility to create a backup from the panel, in our case and in our company's card, we offer free of charge the possibility to make a backup of the website very easily and quickly directly from cPanel, exclusively for Ebzor customers.

We access cPanel after Backup if we want to download a backup already created automatically by cPanel or Expert Backup Wizard if we want to make one at that moment and download a complete backup.

cPanel automatically creates a back-up of all the files on the hosting as well as emails and absolutely everything, the entire restoration being very easy and fast.

How do we backup important data from the computer / laptop?
As a rule, there are specialized software that make automatic backups, but many times even the software can encounter problems or malfunctions.

It recommends periodically creating one manually.

In the case of computers, there are motherboards that offer the possibility of creating a RAID1 partition, in short, 2 hard disks on which data is copied simultaneously, but you can only use 1 hard disk, if one breaks, your data remains on the other disk, but about RAID1 we will make a new article soon with an explanation.

Let's stick to the more "normal" method.

We recommend creating a backup on external hard disks, connected via USB cable to the computer which will also allow you to connect to the laptop via USB.

We do NOT recommend that the hard disk on which you want to create a backup should also be inserted into the computer together with the main disk, you connect the external hard disk with USB connection to the computer only when you want to create a backup copy of your files and we will explain why.

In the event of a short circuit at the source, motherboard or overvoltage at the electrical power network, there are chances of burning the motherboard, the source and in 95% of cases the hard disks, so you automatically lose even the disk you have backup.

Such surges can be avoided by using a UPS, but we have to be realistic, there are very few people who use UPSs, but in the case of a laptop? You won't go with the UPS after you :) that's why we recommend connected External Hard Disks only when you want to create a backup.
